Giving up on Pryor?
October 18, 2009Couple of college football upsets today. Our Ohio State Buckeyes fell against the Purdue Boilermakers, 26-18. Another terrible game for Terrelle Pryor who threw two more interceptions, totaling 8 for the season.
What the heck is wrong with Pryor? Do you blame Tressel for the conservative play calling? Do you blame the coaching staff for the poor throwing mechanics? Or just think he’s not a good quarterback just a good athlete. His overall development hasn’t been much. He doesn’t seem to be able to read defenses, holds the ball too long and can’t throw short passes. Teams will and should stuff 9 in the box and make Pryor throw to beat them.
Question will be at what point does he go on the bench if this continues? Clearly he was promised the starting job when recruited but if this keeps going the Columbus faithful will be calling for heads.
Yankees win, Dodgers even up series
October 17, 2009Yankees continue their journey to the World Series by beating the Angels 4-1 in game 1 of the ALCS. They got a great 8 inning performance from former Cleveland Indians starter CC Sabathia. It seems as though his playoff jitters are gone. He had good command of his stuff and never really put himself in a difficult position.

Meanwhile, playing in the great weather of LA, the Dodgers even things up in the NLCS with a 2-1 win over the Phillies. Pedro pitched very well. The win was huge for the Dodgers avoiding going 0-2. Game 3 will be in Philly on Sunday.

Torre takes a gamble
October 14, 2009Joe Torre is going with left-hander Clayton Kershaw for game 1 against the Phillies. While Charlie Manual and the Phillies will start Cole Hamels.
Kershaw’s last start was against the Rockies going 6 innings without giving a run and striking out 10. We won’t second guess Torre, but it is a gamble for him and the Dodgers. We maintain our Dodger Blue pick to take the NL.

Free clothes for everyone! Not…
October 14, 2009Here’s a good practical joke for everyone out there. Go into a Burlington Coat Factory and tell everyone that you just won the lottery and will buy them $500 worth of stuff per person. Then later on, as people are at the register, tell them you didn’t win. See what happens. Apparently, this lady decided to play the joke to the people of Columbus. Nice one…
A break from the action
October 13, 2009Quinn up on the block [Update]
October 13, 2009As anticipated, Brady Quinn is on the trading block. Browns have to get some value for him now and not wait until the end of the season. Funny how a 2 for 17 performance by Derek Anderson warrants a “spark” comment.
