Great day in NFL action if you’re a New York area fan as the two teams beat two of their most hated rivals today. The New York Jets defeated the New England Patriots at home with help from a very strong defense and solid mistake-free play from Mark Sanchez. Jets fans have to be feeling good after suffering through noodle-armed Chad Pennington, mediocrities like Kellen Clemens, and Brett Favre’s injured arm. Read the rest of this entry »

Here’s a Fantasy Football Sleeper…
August 2, 2009The forgotten man of the USC Trojan dynasty, LenDale White hasn’t had it easy in his first few seasons in the NFL. Last season he did manage 15 touchdowns and but he managed only 48.3 yards per game as Chris Johnson’s backup. This year, White is taking much better care of his body. Seriously, losing thirty pounds from cutting off the tequila? That must be a whole lot of Patron. For all you fantasy football players, look for White to overshadow his backfield partner with the Trojans, Reggie Bush.
Making Sense of the Deadline Deals…
July 31, 2009Leading off with the shocking move of the day, Jake Peavy was sent to the South Side of Chicago for prospects. This move puts the White Sox back in the AL Central race but we don’t think that it’ll help them out too much in the postseason if they get there. Peavy has been in decline since his Cy Young season in 2007 and he was making his living off the anemic lineups of NL West. Read the rest of this entry »
It’s Settled, Joba is a Starter

All Around The Rumor Mill
July 27, 2009With the MLB trade deadline fast approaching, the title contenders are vying for the last piece of the puzzle, and very willing to pay a king’s ransom. Witness this rumor involving the Boston Red Sox giving up prized starting pitching prospect Clay Buchholz, Daniel Bard, Junichi Tazawa, and Michael Bowden for Roy Halladay. It’s definitely a step up from the paltry offering the Phillies made to the Jays. Meanwhile, the Yankees are looking to shore up their pitching staff as well, looking into relievers like Heath Bell and starters like Cliff Lee. Speaking of Cliff Lee, it appears that the Rays and Red Sox, among other suitors, have their eyes on the reigning AL Cy Young. Read the rest of this entry »
Rapid Fire: Gold Cup, MLB Trade Rumors, and more…
July 26, 2009The US was thrashed 5-0 today at Giants Stadium by Mexico in the Gold Cup final. This year’s competition wasn’t as vital as last year’s as there was no Confederations’ Cup berth on the line however, this is still a significant setback for the Yanks and a great morale booster for El Tri going into the showdown at the Azteca.
